I don’t know where my caption went… but to summarize:
This is a knockout rose that is supposed to get 4′ tall x3′ wide. The future plan for the bed is to extend it down the left side of the house, with a curved path beside it. I wasn’t planning on starting that extension this fall, but now I have this plant… maybe I should extend the bed now?
Option 1 Squeeze it in the current bed, where some plants died.
Option 2 Extend the bed around the side of the house and give it some room.
Option 3 ????
I love a free plant! Where would you put it?

Plant it where you think it will fit once the rest of the border is built, and complete the extension in the future.

Clear the low shrubs/weeds in front of the hanging baskets and plant it there. Roses like full sun. Not sure where you live, but in California I prune my roses back in January. In the spring, I add equal parts of bone meal and blood meal to the base of the rose this encourages healthy growth and minimize disease.. you also need to feed them regularly during the blooming months. Do you know what kind of rose it is? Is there a tag? hopefully it will get tall and you’ll be able to see the blooms from the window. Good luck..

Now be sad. I hate rose bushes. They’re lovely, but they take too much work. Meh.

Don’t you need a railing?
