Sandwell Council has confirmed that the cost for garden waste collections will remain frozen at £40 for 2026, the same price as this year, giving residents good value for money for the 20 collections.
Garden waste collections will take their usual winter break, and the last collection of 2025 will be Friday 12 December, returning in spring 2026.
Residents can check the online bin day finder for their last garden waste collection day and present their bins for collection accordingly.
Subscriptions for 2026 garden waste service will open on Monday 19 January 2026.
Collection day changes for 2026:
From 2026, garden waste collections will change in line with residents’ Alternate Weekly Collection (AWC) bin days.
This means that households whose collection days changed when AWC was introduced on 15 September 2025 will see their garden waste collections move to match their new collection day.
Residents will be able to find their garden waste collection dates for 2026 by using the online bin day finder closer to when garden waste collections are due to resume in spring 2026.
Councillor Keith Allcock, Sandwell Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment and Highways, said: “We’d like to thank everyone who has used the garden waste service this year. By recycling garden waste, residents help us reduce waste sent for incineration or to landfill, helping us keep Sandwell green.
“We’re also pleased to confirm that the subscription cost will remain frozen at £40 for another year, offering good value for money for residents.
“The service will take its usual winter break while there is less garden waste being produced, returning in the spring ready for the new growing season.”
