A beloved holiday favorite, amaryllis is native to South America and has been hybridized for centuries, resulting in a wide range of colors, sizes, and flower forms. With proper care, these showy bulbs can bloom for weeks and rebloom year after year.
“Amaryllis provides a fun seasonal experience,” says Hancock. “You typically start with a dry, dormant bulb and watch it burst into bloom over six to eight weeks, producing big, elegant flowers in shades of red, pink, orange, white, and creamy yellow.”
