A riot of warm hues blankets the Asian Woodland at the Sonoma Botanical Garden in Glen Ellen where more than 50 species of Asian maples — many rarely seen in cultivation — have shifted as the fall progress, from bright greens to vivid reds, oranges, yellows and even varied hues of purple.
Most of the maples at the garden were collected from wild seed in China, Japan and Korea, making this a unique and fleeting spectacle of nature.
Executive Director Jeannie Perales believes a walk through these trees will “transports you across the Pacific… and fall is just a glorious time to see this rare landscape at its best.’”
Visitors are encouraged to follow the woodland trails now through the rest of the month to experience this color show at its peak.
The garden is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Tickets start at $15. Learn more at sonomabg.org
