The star of Longwood Gardens’ Chrysanthemum Festival is a 12-foot-wide mum with 1,363 blooms.

Last week, another star was on site. Martha Stewart toured the gardens on a break from her work at nearby QVC.

Stewart shared photos of the mums on social media and her blog. “So colorful and so incredible,” she wrote.

Her Instagram photos include the 1,000-bloom mum, violet quill mums, a scene from the East Conservatory entrance and violet anemone mums.

On her blog, Stewart shares more photos and a shout-out to the Kennett Square garden.

“Try to visit if you can. The Longwood Gardens Chrysanthemum Festival is unlike anything one can imagine,” she writes. “See all 66 specialty forms and learn about all the classes. These heirloom and exhibition Chrysanthemums are incredible.”

The festival is open through Sunday, Nov. 16. The manager of the team growing most of the show’s 4,500 mums shared more about the plants (there’s also a video tour).

Stewart wrote about Longwood in the spring, admiring the new Mediterranean-themed conservatory.

She’s also been seen throughout Lancaster County.

In 2018, she had lunch at Scratch Bakes in Ephrata.

In 2016, she shopped at Harvest Lane Farm Market in Lititz and Lancaster Central Market.
