So I lobbed of this flower stalk from one of my echeverias (Dark Prince? Black Prince?) because it started to wilt and a couple of aphids were all over the last remaining non wilting flower branch. I cleaned off the aphids and put the stalk into some water to see if it would root, just out of curiosity. And now weeks have gone by and the stem has become thinner and is starting to wilt too but the top just keeps on going. Is it even possible to grow a new echeveria from a flower stalk? I guess not but it certainly is interesting and I thought I'd share this with you.
I've also included some pics of the mother plants which since the beheading felt obliged to grow a new stak for me to marvel at (I am still kinda new to plants). It has the same aphid problem, since I haven't gotten the aphids on my chilis under control yet, but a rinse every now and then and the prince seems to be fine.
