Food giveaway for federal workers hosted by Miami Gardens commissioner, restaurant

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — The government shutdown is really impacting federal employees, and those effects could be seen during a food distribution event in Miami Gardens on Sunday.

Miami Gardens Councilman Reggie Leon teamed up with Sunday’s Eatery to give each employee a meal.

“It helps,” said federal worker Nathaniel Mitchell. “It’s better than nothing.”

It’s not only the employees, but the family members who depend on them who are being impacted.

The government has been shut down since Oct. 1.
