i removed this long stem from a pothos plant i've had for years. it had leaves at the bottom but was just empty and annoying otherwise, so i've propogated the leaves and cut off the big annoying bit. my question is this though: if i cut each of these little nodes off (the stem is definitely alive because it had leaves at the bottom) can i propogate them? i've taken countless cuttings from this plant over the years and one of them (pictured) looks as though it started off as a similar stem, though i can't remember exactly, but it has grown a leaf so i wonder if each of these nodes would do the same and i'd have a whole bunch of tiny pothos plants?

It should work! I’ve propagated them from a little stem cutting before. Pothos are like the cockroaches of plants and would probably survive a nuclear strike lol.

    Good luck with your experiment!

Yes, you absolutely can! Pothos is not as prone to rot as some other node plants I tried to root, but I’d still recommend letting the cuttings callous (let the cut wounds dry out and contract before putting the cutting in water) and then change the water frequently and make sure the place is well ventilated to prevent accumulation of spores that can grow into mold. Good luck!

You can also say fuck it, let the best man win, and throw them all in one container with water and hope that at least half of them won’t rot and will root, I do that sometimes when I know I won’t miss anything if it all rots and it usually works pretty well and many cuttings survive the experiment 😄
