I've only recently started trying again with larger begonias that aren't in terrarium culture. It turns out the cane types do ok for me (I previously tried keeping the rexes, and it's just too dry here; small species do great in my dart frog vivariums though).
On a day-trip to downtown Los Angeles this week, I stopped in the floral district before leaving and grabbed a few new begonias that were unlabeled in my haul. Hoping someone here can assist with ID.
1 and #2 have dark crimson stems and undersides of leaves. Both look nearly black in indoor artificial lighting. The spots on #1 are bubblegum pink, and #2 is starting to bloom flowers in a similar shade. #2 also has little dots all over the leaves that look like they wish they were cool enough to become spikes, but are just sort of trying without succeeding at spikeyness, resulting in little teeny bumps instead.
3 I think is just a regular Maculata, but apparently (per my Googling) there's another species that looks pretty similar, and I don't have enough experience with begonias varieties to be sure.
