A speeding BMW driver has been pictured being held down on the ground by locals after crashing through a garden fence.
Joseph Naismith collided with several fences on Dalkeith’s Thornybank Grove in Midlothian, Scotland on June 10 this year while under the influence of drink or drugs, a court heard. He was then pinned to the floor by people before he was arrested by police and has now been disqualified from driving for 15 months.
Footage was taken of the incident by a local resident where it captured the chaotic scenes as several fences were destroyed and debris was left strewn across a family’s garden in the residential area.

A local mum claimed Naismith had attempted to reverse the vehicle before he got out and was then stopped by two men who forced him down on the grass before police arrived, reports EdinburghLive.
The 33-year-old, from Wallyford, East Lothian, could be heard shouting “get off me” before being helped to his feet and confirming his name to officers. At the time a horrified mum told how her 13-year-old son ‘could have been playing in the garden’ before Naismith crashed through the fence.
At Edinburgh Sheriff Court last week, Naismith pleaded guilty to driving at excessive speeds and in an erratic manner before colliding with a fence, driving into a residential garden and colliding with another fence. He also admitted being behind the wheel of the car while unfit to drive through drink or drugs.
Naismith was disqualified from driving for 15 months and is required to sit an extended test. He was also fined £600 plus a £40 victim surcharge which must be paid within two months.
Speaking at the time of the crash, resident Shona Halliday was in her house when Naismith came crashing through the fence. She said how it was lucky that nobody had been in the garden at the time.
Shona said: “He drove into the Woodburn pavilion car park, then drove right through the boundary fence through my garden and through me and my neighbour’s fence. Then was trying to reverse back out.
“Neighbour and a bystander got him out the car and held him till the police came. No one was hurt but myself and my neighbour has 13-year-old boys who could have been out in the garden, such a shock. [sic]”
