At first thought I’d try shaking the whole thing in a basket or bucket etc.. The lighter needles should make their way to the top of the pile.

Is there a difference in buoyancy? Might try a small batch in water to see if the berries sink. If so, you could skim the needles and twigs off the surface.

Fill a bucket with water. the needles will float to the top as well as any bad berries
