Overgrown trees are encroaching on gardens in Tipperary's largest town

Some trees on the N24 in Clonmel are encroaching on people’s gardens in the Ard Gaoithe Drive and Ard Caoin estates and should be trimmed, Cllr Richie Molloy stated at a meeting of Clonmel Borough District.

He said that in order to ensure uniformity, trees in Heywood Drive should also be trimmed in line with the trees that were recently cut back on the N24.

He welcomed the work that had been carried out, but residents were hoping that trees would be brought back to the level of the wall.

District Administrator Carol Creighton said that Clonmel Borough District has more than 90 CRMs (Customer Relationship Managements, or requests) in relation to tree-pruning within the town.

In accordance with the council’s strategy, tree pruning is prioritised based on health and safety reasons and impact on property.

She said that budgets would be reviewed at the end of the year and this area had been recorded for consideration.
