#tinyhouse #tinyhometour #tinyhome

As I’ve grown older, I’ve rediscovered what’s
really important to me. And what’s good for my body, what’s good for my heart, good for
my soul, is being close to nature. So, this is a big swing that I’ve made
here. Um, it is a queen-size platform. Tiny home living has really allowed me to pick and choose where I want to live and how close
and immersed in nature that I want to be. The reason why I made this addition to my tiny
home is it’s a good secondary space. You can have guests over and and not feel like it’s encroaching
in your own more personal space in the tiny home. [Music] Hi, I’m Lance. This is Buddha.
And welcome to our tiny home. I’ve always wanted to get into tiny home living.
Um, I didn’t have the finances to purchase, so I thought I would build. Coincidentally,
I didn’t have the building skills either, but since YouTube is a beautiful thing, I was
able to get started. I’ve recently made a shift in in what I do for a living and I only do things
that I love to do and tiny home building is one of them. This is how I express myself artistically is
through tiny home build and design. I think I have a really unique way I design and build. I don’t
really have blueprints. I I just solve problems as they come up and everything is in my mind. I
know how I want the design to go and I just move through the building process. When I come to a
problem, maybe I work it out on a marker board and solve that problem and then bring it back to
um the design and the build. This is my third tiny home build and I wanted a really small space but
super functional. One of the things that really reflect me in the in the design of this tiny home
is all the cedar elements. I’ve always wanted to design a tiny home with the black steel contrast
with the cedar. This building process took about maybe 7 to 8 months up until this point. Um I had
a lot of help along the way. The trades were done by trained professionals like the plumbing
and electric electrical super important. Um but everything else um I built by myself. This
tiny home is about 18 ft long and 8 ft wide. The exterior living space is about 13 ft
long and 9 ft wide. So, this tiny home is about 150 ft. And the exterior living room
is about 120. Okay, here we are at my tiny home. I’m on Vancouver Island located close to
Victoria, BC. I chose to build here because I wanted to be close to friends and family and
this is a good community location for that. These were cedar trees that were cut down on the
property here. I thought it would be a good way to set the foundation. A nice elevated stance. Uh
rising yourself above the forest floor to give yourself a good view of nature here. I liked
this spot tucked away in the forest corner. It’s nice and private. Lots of shade. Lots of
sunlight also peeking through the trees in the summertime. I thought it’d be a good contrast with
the black of the steel and the red of the cedar. uh really blends well into the forest vibes here.
I made an exterior bench here. Um I got these two boulders located from close to this property
here and this cedar is cut from the land. Also, if you can tell, it’s kind of gravity defying.
It looks like the bench is just balancing there on the rocks. Still super stable. I won’t budge
at all. I often use the deck outside here with my morning coffee or maybe have a late dinner out
here. Really helps to unwind after a good hard day of working and just soak in the forest vibes and
recharge. So, with the design of this tiny home, I really wanted uh simplicity in mind. I
wanted to create a space that was affordable and simple yet super functional. Why don’t
you come on in and I’ll show you the inside. All right, welcome to my tiny home. Uh, this is
the bedroom area. Uh, also have a TV up here, so a lot of unwinding after a hard work day is
done here. I’ve got a nice big huge window that I’m able to look out onto the forest and
see all the birds and the nature. Uh, it kind of really helps to blend the inside with the
outside. It’s also really nice waking up and just staring out at the forest. Also, it’s nature’s
alarm clock. I get the sunlight on my face in the morning and it really helps set the tone for
the day. So, this is the kitchen area. Uh, a 5-ft uh kitchen top. Uh, nice and simple, nice and
short. I wanted a really compact kitchen space, but I’m able to do everything I need. I also have
a full size fridge. Meets all of my needs. Uh, nice big freezer space as well. I have a small
convection oven here. Um, I can cook anything I need in here. It’s actually super wonderful. I
also have this space here. I can set my kettle on, my milk frother for the morning coffees. I can
also do the hot plate down here and I can do the air fryer and just bring it down here and cook
up a good meal. Uh air fryer is the tiny home hack if you don’t know. Yeah, I’ve got storage
underneath. This is just for like dog treats and stuff like that. Just some extra space. Um
I really have more space than I need in here. So this is just extra storage. So I’ve got a full
length closet here actually uh which is super nice. I’ve got some hangers for some clothes
there. And all my clothing needs are in here, seasonal. Um, and I can just switch out the
seasonal clothes as I need. But this is more than enough space for me. I also just finished
the bathroom door, which is really exciting. Uh, combination of cedar and and mirror. Yeah.
And into the bathroom here, I have a full flushable toilet. And I have a holding tank set
up outside so I can get a truck out here to pump out the septic maybe about twice a year. I also
have a standup shower. Really, I’m not wanting for anything in terms of bathroom needs. This is
everything I need. Also, in this space for heat, um, I went the extra mile and I did heated
floors. So, the floors throughout are heated. I have a smart thermostat here that I can
program throughout the day for when I come home for work. I can just have the heated
floors turned on. It’s also on my phone, so I can control it through there. Now, come outside
with me and follow me to my detached living room. So, this is the exterior living room.
Uh, good for entertaining, watching TV, doing yoga. If you just need to stretch
stretch out, this is a great space for that. And I want to welcome you in. Welcome
inside the exterior living room. This is where I like to do my yoga. The reason why I
made this addition to my tiny home is it’s a good secondary space. It’s a different vibe.
Uh you can come entertain in here. You can have guests over and and not feel like it’s
encroaching in your own more personal space in the tiny home. And why don’t you come out
with me and we can check out my swing. [Music] So, this is a big swing that I’ve made
here. Um, it is a queen-size platform. Uh, it can fit two people quite easily. I often like
to use this swing for a chance to reset. Uh, if I’m ever feeling a little stuck
or I just need to recalibrate, I often come out here on the swing and just
spend a few minutes and relax. I also have this pretty cool contraption for the swing.
Uh, it’s a good way for me to swing myself. So, I just attach this this link
to this quick release. I winch the swing up [Music] and then I can climb on. I have a quick release link so
I can just lay down and release. There you go. you’re stuck at all at work. This
is the way to go. Oh, this is the best though, too. So, here you can see I have some hummingbird
feeders and uh they really are my forest friends here. All the birds here. I’ve got a cedar over
there as well with uh some sunflower seeds. I uh I I come out with my coffee down
the stairs and I’m often like dodging hummingbirds cuz they’re just
like whipping around corners. As I’ve grown older, I’ve rediscovered what’s
really important to me. And what’s good for my body, what’s good for my heart, good for my soul
is being close to nature. And tiny home living has really allowed me to pick and choose where
I want to live and how close and immersed in nature that I want to be. This has really been an
incredible build journey for me. For some reason, I am filled with inspiration and design.
Everything is coming to mind. So, I think that there will come a time in the near future where
I’ll probably put this tiny home up for sale and look forward to starting my next build. I’m really
excited about all the future plans that I have in terms of building projects and tiny homes. Um, if

  1. I was literally just having a conversation with my dad about this type of tiny house detached layout on forested property 2 hours ago. I've seen several videos showcasing this style and this is definitely one of my favorites. having to walk through nature to get to different areas of your living space adds something that I can't really describe but feels so great and you can't understand until you experience it.

  2. Lance, you remind me of my old hiking buddy. He could build/fix anything. A free and quirky spirit. Thank you for sharing your lovely creation with us.

  3. Yes, after 11 years in our tiny home, we've now added an annexe to our place, for the very same reason. That extra social space is really life changing.
I let the materials available dictate the form. Everything I use is up cycled and free, which makes it all the more satisfying.
Nice design and use of materials in your design. Keep up the great work!

  4. I, too, like the idea of detached living areas; I would put the kitchen in another space than the bedroom (I don’t like to sleep in the same space as a refrigerator!) Nice builds and location!!

  5. What’s nice if u build 200 sq ft most places u dint need a permit . So adding additional structures of that size or below unavoidable permits. Love the layout ❤

  6. Bring your designs to Australia with your Tiny Homes. You are so talented, and Tiny Homes will solve the Australian Housing Crisis big time! Have a happy day and much love from Australia. 💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛

  7. This tiny home just went up for sale today. I saw it listen in an Ad and said to myself. "hey, I just saw this in a YT video" lol

  8. I see a lot of comment of people loving separating the living room as a separate structure – I don't. There is no place to sit in the main house, and I think that is a design flaw; you are either standing or you are on the bed. Not for me.

  9. Is this a legal spot or is it hard to find one? I would love to move to Victoria where my son lives. Right now I live in Halifax NS. He is the only family I have left. I wouldn't want to live too close to the city so we don't crap each others style.

  10. Absolutely beautiful home and life ❤ I’m half way through my tiny house build in mums garden to live in full time,I can’t wait, simple happy peaceful living, how blessed we r

  11. I love the detached homes ❤ My only issue is I'd rather have my bedroom separate from my living area. As the smells from the food would be stuck inside the space when closing up for the night. Especially as where I live air conditioning is necessary in summer. I'd add another toilet or compost loo and have the bathroom in the bedroom area for myself. When visitors come they'd use the other toilet and I'd still be able to entertain and cook for them. Just my personal preference. The cedar is gorgeous and your dog Buddha is a cutie. Great work you've done also 🙏😍

  12. Am very much impressed by your design, and how to see the world, following your heart and knowing what you exactly want and need in life is one thing many people can't manage following the society pressure.I design tiny houses on YouTube and I wish to be able to just have land and build one myself, with my own hands.

  13. Loved it! I'll be following you as you never know I may be in need of a build someday. It wasn't mentioned if you own the land there and how big of a plot it is?

  14. Love the blend of indoors and outdoors. There's nothing better than being in nature! Personally, I'd need a third build for a walk-in closet/playroom for my gear, but I really love what he's done…and the white with windows really opens up the space! Buddha is adorable, btw!

  15. Gorgeous!!! I like the idea of 2 independent spaces but I would have put the living room and kitchen in one and the bedroom and bathroom in another. But beautiful nonetheless and I love your property and the swing. ❤
