Aundrea Brown’s fourth-grade class at Cridersville Elementary School (CES) was the first group of students to use the school’s new hammock garden after it was unveiled Tuesday morning. The hammock garden provides a fun, outdoor reading space and is believed to be the first of its kind in Ohio. Students were excited to bring their books outside and set up the hammocks.
The garden is located on the south side of CES by the staff parking lot. It has six wooden spokes with four posts coming off of each like a plus sign. There are two sets of eye hooks on the posts at two different heights, so bigger kids can have a hammock at the taller height while smaller kids can be at the lower height. The garden supports 24 hammocks.
