Check out this full backyard transformation we just completed! We started out with an old, rotted deck and tore that down to make room for a more functional outdoor living space. First priority was a covered deck so they could enjoy the outdoor space in all weather. The covered deck has it all: built in custom couch, recessed TV entertainment center, fireplace, and bar top seating. We also installed infrared heaters and fans so the covered deck can be enjoyed nearly year round. The open deck has a full outdoor kitchen, and that leads down to the pool deck paver patio with plenty of space for entertaining and a really sweet fire pit area.

  1. too many different materials, sizes, shapes, hard 90s and radius turns for my liking. Its nice and functional but I don't think its very elegant. Not sure what style you would call this? My hamptons bias showing

  2. A shame for me that so many of your clients seem to go for the same cladding and 90° lines everywhere. Can see the finish is high quality but just want a bit of variety. It is what it is.

  3. I’ve been watching your videos for a while now, and I’m always amazed by your work. I have a quick question for you: what brand is your ceiling fan? I love the design. Also, I couldn’t open your Amazon shop link.

  4. The paving looks nice for now until all the weeds start to find their way to the surface …. You should lay down Geo – tech linning over your 3/4 inch chip stone to help with drainage and stop the weeds from coming through. ….?

  5. Not sure why you keep showing up to these poor ppl's houses & replacing perfectly good outdoor spaces with your own monstrosities LOL!!! Much love, Blessings, & Dirty Jersey out!!

  6. The build is obviously top-notch, nicely done. I question many of the design choices, though (which I realize are not the builder’s decisions). There is no real style to the project…maybe “McMansion?” (Of course, the house itself doesn’t seem to have any style either, so…) The fussy patterning in the new decking cheapens what is obviously a very expensive component. It looks dated right from the get-go…a bit cheesy and busy. The windows that now strangely look onto the covered porch scream “addition” and need a different solution…are those bedrooms? Whatever is on the other side is now permanently dark. That’s a rookie architectural mistake. This whole build should have been set a few feet off from the house rather than hugging it. The doorway out to the new deck is completely unintigrated and exposed — it seems a like an oversight that could have been easily addressed. The whole set-up seems visually closed off to the backyard/pool rather than seamlessly integrated into it, with the bench seats and bar seating facing away from the outdoors and toward…a TV? I think these folks could have just built an addition onto their house and been done with it. Moreover, this build has a lipstick-on-a-pig feel — the rest of the house is a dog, so the homeowners certainly aren’t going to recover their costs. I have many clients that make this mistake and are then dumbfounded when they go to sell and realize they won’t recoup even a fraction of the expense. Great construction work, but a lot of poor design and layout decisions. Underwhelming, given the considerable cost.
