I feel like I will need to report these 3 bad boys soon. How would you go about it? I want to avoid breaking any arms.

  1. maybe lay the pot on the side so the cacti are resting backs on the ground and say bye bye to the pot

Unrelated to the question but that Myrtillocactus is gorgeous

Carefully. Preferably with a suit of armor on.

I used to grab em with a pool noodle before I got the thorn resistant gloves

Towels might be helpful for your situation. Protects from spines and gives you a way to lift without risking damage.

If you don’t want to break your pot, I’d probably lay it on its side (maybe on some towels) and try to get the entire root ball out of the pot (I’m assuming they’re going to have grown together/be stuck together). Once you get it out, focus on separating 1 cactus at a time.

Depending on how interwoven the roots are, it might be less damaging to just cut them apart. As long as you aren’t taking off too much root off of any one plant, they should be able to tolerate a small reduction in root mass. If you don’t want to cut, I would moisten the soil and massage the root ball until you can get them united.

    Good luck!

  6. Lay them over on a bail of straw. Work the old pot off, stand them back up in the new pot and backfill. You’ll probably need some help with that.

Get someone to help you if you can.

Give them each their own pot that big.

Maybe some Wandering Jew or Donkey tails if you wants something else in the pot.

Absolutely beautiful pieces. Take your time and weight the advice you get here!

They don’t want to be repotted. Look at the one on the right hugging everyone and being all protective.
