Want to delete the grass and make a native garden. Was thinking maybe a westringia hedge at the front. Any ideas tips?
The grass makes the house look like rubbish and I just want a way to make the place look nicer without blowing thousands on landscaping retaining walls. Give some suggestions please.
This is my little native garden that’s been in for 2 years.

Okay, firstly props for wanting to delete the grass and go native! Where about do you live climate wise?
Because there’s a small slope to the yard, I’d probably get rid of the garden bed in front of it house and create a small riverstone path along there to keep dirt/mulch/plants away from the home.
As far as getting rid of the grass, you could do the cardboard/plastic baking trick especially while it’s still hot. I wouldn’t contemplate planting new plants till closer to autumn to help reduce some of the transplant/weather shock.
I love your letter box and think a sleeper or 2 stacked if you can get one across the front will a) stop any dirt/mulch leaving your yard and b) give you a bit of vertical space to add some more dirt and mulch once you remove the grass.
I like the idea of something that “flows” or trails a bit at the front, whether it’s a westaringa or a low flowing grevillea would also look really pretty. Then behind them, I’d aim to zig zag plant some small- medium shrubs with something as a feature in the middle.
Lomandra are flowering fast growing grasses so a couple of them. Dianella is another option. Or kangaroo paws!
Banksia Stumpy Gold if you can find one would make such a beautiful centrepiece. If you wanted a taller feature, maybe a Boronia clavata – Bremer boronia which they are trying to bring back from the brink or Leptospermum Love Affair – tea tree or Leptospermum Ballerina.
