2.5 years ago, my son ripped off a few succulent leaves and threw them all about. Turns out they love dog hair, being next to a dryer vent, and the water from a heat pump condensate drain.

Throw some soil and another handful down

That’s Graptosedum ‘Vera Higgins’, they propagate like crazy. I’ve never had a leaf prop fail. Great for beginners who want to try propagating succulent leaves.

What bacteria break down dog hair, that people could uses to inoculate soil?
Or is it better used as top dressing to retain moisture

    That’s disgusting but also amazing!

I went on r/propogation, and now I have over a dozen plants grown from succulent leaves that fell on the floor at Home Depot. You just lay them on the soil after drying them out for a few days, then barely water them.
