The main stalk won’t necessarily get thicker but it will get more offshoots like you have there near the bottom so it will fill out and also get taller. Mine is almost 5 feet tall. Bright, indirect light. Infrequent watering. She lives outside in the shade in the summer and comes inside for winter.

Thickening is more likely due to corking. When the plant gets too heavy, the base will start to slowly crack, and the cracks will heal with a brown, crusty scar tissue. At that point, it’s often a good idea to either stake it for extra support or chop it up and propagate the pieces. Ultimately it’s an aesthetic choice, and you’re nowhere near that point yet. But when you do start to see corking, if you leave it long enough, it will eventually topple over.
These are pretty easy to care for imo, but you’ll want to give it TONS of light if that reddish color is important to you. Congrats on your new addition, she’s a beauty! 😁
