Area organiser for the Poppy Scotland Appeal, Alex Haddow explained that he had the idea based on similar displays in cities such as Glasgow and Edinburgh.

He said: “I know it’s only a wee town, but we take great pride in remembering our veterans and those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

“The kids from the youth club have been collecting juice bottles to make the displays. We also have to thank Kyle Mcadam, who did the metal work at Babcock.”

Additional crosses were sold, with proceeds going towards Cowdenbeath’s yearly total for the appeal.
  
Mr Haddow continued: “I’ve got to thank members of the public and businesses who contributed, because without them this wouldn’t have been possible.

“One person in particular from the youth club is Ed Hood. A lot of people just see this going up, but it takes months and months of work.”

He continued on to thank every local individual and business that contributed to the cause, with a list available on Mr Haddow’s Facebook page.
