Hey everyone,

I’ve been trying to root a China Doll cutting in water for about two weeks now. The leaves still look green and healthy, but I just noticed these white growths on the stem where it sits in the water (photo attached).

I’m not sure if it’s the start of root growth or something bad like mold or rot. I’ve been changing the water every few days and keeping it in bright, indirect light.

Has anyone seen this before? Is it a good sign or should I be worried?

Yes it looks like some roots are growing 🙂
    It’s a good thing!

  2. It should be a valuable mushroom that will allow rooting. To be on the safe side, I would add a few drops of peroxide (hydrogen peroxide) to the water and change it every day.
