I’ve had this for aglaonema for years and it’s been thriving in this spot (see that it’s flowering).

I’m assuming this is not fixable, but is there any chance the plant puts up a pup or something, or is it destined for the trash?

    It will grow back.
The snapped top part, you can remove some lower leaves and put it back to soil.
Snapped bottom part should send out new shoot

It is difficult to say, but it might still be a result if you remove the leaves, just letting the top two leaves so that way the plant will not consume too many nutrients, while the stem is plunged in a jar filled with water, to which you can add some blau corn( or similar plant nutrition ), it might develop roots after some time (1 to 3 months)
Anyway, the way it is, there is little to loose, and it might work.

There’s a good chance it will send up new growth, and you should snip off the flower and try to root the plant too. (Flowering takes energy and you want all the energy to go to making roots.)

I had this happen from my cats they chewed it into a stump

I put it in the garage thinking it was dead and wanted to save the pot. Whelp summer came and I see a tiny green node picking up in the soil. This thing fought a 5b winter as a stump and came back after being thrown into a dark cold garage.

So I hope yours will grow again

  5. Very sorry this happened… but all is not lost!

You can poke the broken top gently back into the soil, cut off the flower(so it redirects its growth energy), and continue to treat the whole pot as if nothing had happened — it is likely to root, and the original stalk may branch out or get some basal growth.

Don’t be surprised if you see some bottom leaf loss from the new prop before it settles in, as plants use up moisture stored in their oldest leaves when they don’t have enough roots to rake in adequate water. Edit: if you see this and said leaves are drying/crisping up before dropping, you’re fine. If they’re soft and floppy with dark spots, there’s probably a rot issue you can’t see under the soil.

Just keep an eye out in case the old stem rots — pull it out ASAP if this happens, toss the broken base, and gently repot the top into something smaller. This pot looks huge even for the unbroken plant, and is likely to hold water for too long for a rooting cutting, so you may want to do that anyways to avoid future rot.

    Good luck 🍃

  6. It will come back. I would put the top part into a glass of water and let it grow roots. You can probably just put straight into the soil too but I like to have some roots grow first before replanting

Not to worry. Put that stalk in water– roots readily– and mother plant will grow back better, maybe with several branches!

I have one that I purposely chopped and it is growing back.

Dont worry, however much it pisses you off, it will grow back to more plants. Just need care and time and patience😊

That’s a very large pot for an aglaonema, you may have watering issues (and/or lighting issues) which causes the stems to weaken.

If it’s still connected may be it will join, try taping it. Some plants join
