My calathea (Callie) was doing great for a while and then I over watered her. I was top watering her and letting the water drain out (rocks between the planter and pot and the water would drip between) but I forgot to check how much water was in the pot and she sat too long it so I emptied the water out a couple of weeks ago but it’s just been going downhill since. I’ve cut the leafs off that were completed yellow (except the one pictured), she originally had 12 leafs and now we’re down to 7 😢. She’s not getting direct sunlight, get just a little indirect sun if it’s sunny out for the day.
I know these are the pickiest and most diva-like of plants so no need to point that out. I know that any sort of change can upset them so I’m nervous to do so, but at this point I have to be open to advice to try to turn things around! Any help will be appreciated 🙂

Soil looks quite dense and if that is dead plant matter it should be removed. I could be wrong, though… but if the soil is too dense then it will retain too much soil when you water.
Aside from that, it looks like there is some plant etiolation going on where your stems are super elongated because the plant is reaching for more light. I know a lot of sources say calathea like indirect light, and this is somewhat true because it might get fried if you sit it in the middle of a hot sun, but they actually enjoy more light than people think. I have mine under a grow light and it is thriving— perhaps try that if you don’t have a place close to or next to a window.
