You can cut below the other node (where it’s lighter green) and try to start roots from there if you are worried about rot at the bottom node

As far as I knew these (calatheas) got rhizomes and you can’t really propagate it with a “cutting” since what you think is a stem is i believe a petiole, making the rhizomes underneath the soil ‘the stem’ and if I got this correct then unfortunately you’re not gonna grow much out of that.
