I’m not an expert in your region. I’m from a warm region plus Bermuda. But your problem is probably a disease so you will have to go down heavy on a disease product. Another would be grubs. I’m not familiar with your condition there.

Chemical spill or gas leak. Do you have natural gas?

Did you clean your driveway or roof with any chemicals? It looks very similar to water runoff pattern

  4. To me it looks like you have a spot of Bermuda (a warm season grass that dies in the autumn) in a lawn of fescue (a cool season grass that looks its best in autumn).

I would say it is just a different species of grass that goes dormant faster but the straight outline of the area is concerning, unless it is constantly in shade. Did you treat for weeds recently ?

Definitely looks like nimbleweed or Bermuda. Closer pictures always help. Killing it next summer and overseeding in the Fall might be the best bet. You could try digging it up, but that will be a constant battle for awhile.

Frost is doing it. KBG + Fescue is fine, but the others aren’t.

  7. Appears it might be related to shade/less heat/more moisture.

That one line is almost perfectly in line with the shade at that time of day

My guess is foldable tailgate tables that were leaped on and broken in half and sat there blocking the sun for a time.
