Just received an order from CalCarn. USPS was extra late on delivery. They were in shipping for one month. Now I noticed that one is infested w/ what appears to be fungus gnats.

Looking for confirmation on the pest here & also, do I need to open and/or treat away from others? I’ve read the larvae can be a problem and don’t want any problems w/ my others currently out or acclimating.

Thanks!

    Yes, those are fungus gnats.

I don’t think that there’s a chance that a quarantine will work with these bastards, unless you have an industrial grade biohazard facility or something. They’re great flyers and they can sneak literally anywhere. Your best bet is to treat everything you have, old and new. Drench the soil with a solution of acetamiprid to kill all the larvae in the soil.

    God, I hate them.

  2. Plant looks pretty good though for being in shipping for a month.
