PEORIA (25News Now) -The City of Peoria is clearing up rumors about Exposition Gardens on West Northmoor Road.
A Facebook post Thursday went viral after someone said they had been told that demolition of Expo Gardens would start the first week of November. City officials have verified it has not scheduled a date for demolition yet and the post is not accurate.
The post, which has gained over a thousand reactions and hundreds of shares and comments, led locals to recount their days attending fairs and concerts at Expo Gardens.
The city bought Expo Gardens in September 2025 for $1.25 million after the former owners foreclosed on the building due to outstanding debt.
City officials hope that someday soon there will be single-family homes on the property to attract young families to the area.
