Hello everyone! We would love to get help in taking care of this palm tree. We received it as a gift not long ago.

Since we bought it home, it started to wilt bit by bit. We tried changing the location, from being close to the window to further away. Also tried letting the soil dry between waterings, then we tried keeping in moist at all times. Nothing we tried seems to work in the long term and we are very sad and frustrated that we are unable to improve its conditions.

We want to kindly ask for your help and tips in regard to taking care of this palm tree. Thank you! ^^

You need to check the roots – for rot and separate and cut what’s rotten, then change the soil to some palm mix, cut anything that’s dry. If some of the roots are fine it may grow back to health. Also don’t put what’s left of the roots in too big pot.

  2. When I bought mine and set it up at home it started doing this as well during the first year. This year I just cut off all the brown leaves and left only a few green stalks.

I’ve had at least 5 or 6 new leaves grow this year alone.

They simply don’t like the change in light is my guess.

I’ve got a moisture sensor in the soil but it has been *very* slow to dry out, even in a well draining pot. It’s been a month since I last watered it and the soil is still damp to the touch.

Check the roots for rot. Check the leaves for pests. Then spray with a 3 or 4 in 1 neem oil spray. You’d want to cut the brown leaves off and coat the remaining leaves in the spray.

Maybe mix some sand and bark into the soil after checking the roots.
