This is my first ever Alocasia. She was a very sad rescue from my local grocery store. She had three leaves when I got her, but they are all very small and very thin brown around the edges, she was hurting. I Brought her home, put her in some new chunky soil and all three of the leaves promptly died and I thought she was gone, but then I got the one beautiful leaf that came up almost a month after I’d gotten her! The first pictures, and it is a huge, beautiful leaf, thick and strong and I was so excited 🥳🥳
Then about two weeks ago. I noticed this little growth at the bottom and I didn’t want to get too excited but I asked in here if this was a new leaf?Yes it was a new leaf 👏🏼👏🏼 so now she’s put out her second leaf after a couple months of me telling her how beautiful she was. She was definitely a diva. The second leaf is just as big and just as beautiful and strong.
I noticed today on the original leaf, there are two yellow round spots. I have completely wiped and looked over the whole plant top to bottom there are no bugs anywhere!! But these two yellow spots are bothering me and I don’t know what they’re from. I’m really worried because I don’t want to lose that first leaf.
If anybody could help me figure out what they are that would be great. Or let me know what you think they might be. I did fertilize her while she was putting out the second leaf with just my normal diluted liquid fertilizer because I was told on here that would help the new leaf because she’s using extra nutrients to push out that leaf. So I don’t know if it could be from that, even though I’ve used this same fertilizer and strength for months.
She is on my kitchen counter so it could be splash from something I guess. I’m a little concerned. I also noticed it looks like there’s a third leaf coming up and I am excited about that and the fact that I’ve been able to keep her alive and growing for over 6 months, after hearing such horror stories about their fussiness and fragility.
I just had to share my beautiful second leaf on my rescue Alocasia. Now I want to try another one I love the look of a frydek (I think that’s the name of it). Is it really fussy?? 🤣🤣🤣
