I just got this from a greenhouse for $15. Not even sure if it's a good kind of hoya or not.
The tag says Krohniana Black?
The last one I got from home depot I tried to turn to use in pon, and followed someone's advice on here to rip out all the roots and treat them like cuttings again, because soil roots won't grow in hydro…..
Let's just say I messed that up, and the plant from Home Depot wasn't that vigorous to begin with, it was young…..
I don't want to mess this one up…. I don't want to deal with dirt… so Should I actually just put the soil roots into pon and let the new hydro roots grow and don't worry about the soil roots rotting?

Krohniana black is accurate, it needs sunstress for the black. I have no advice for hydro because all of mine are outdoors with chunky bark, perlite, leca and coconut mix but I’m sure you’ll find someone here to help
I have this one too and it just bloomed for the first time! The flowers are adorable and smell so sweet.
Beautiful 😍
Cool Catch 😀
Spunds horrible advice.
I usually remove all soil and wash the roots – to get rid of most soil. If a few roots die that happens, but most should survive.
Then put in pon, and water like it is NOT in selfwater pot for 2-3 weeks. Plant feel like its still in soil amd adjust to the new medium.
Then slowly start using the water tank. Usually half full, so enough air can reach the roots. I go for full and refill when almost empty.
Lechuza (brand) sells their pots and pon with this instruction: just take your plant and put in the selfwater pot, fill space with pon, no need to remove soil
NO idea if that works. Then i still have soil that has no air and has lots of flying bugs.
Of course taking a cutting, rooting it and then planting is always works. Just from my feeling not as a big plant as cutting…
