The short answer is yes. Fungal issues come to your garden every year floating in the air. I compost diseased leaves at the end of the season. Some people like to throw them out. Bottom line is diseases still return and always return. The key is prevention spraying.

    Yup, the definitely 'blow in'. I learned that a few months ago from someone else. After I heard that fact I did indeed STOP concerning myself with what was right in the garden and thinking I'm going to discard it even from the compost. Why?? worry about that when it is literally being blowen in from 10's of miles away (or farther). So no matter what I do in my small area about certain things is NOT going to stop it from showing up in the future/next season.

    So obviously we ought to do practically beneficial things but not be nutz about things especially when they are truly beyond our control

    We had a long hard frost the other night, so all the leaves are suddenly falling, before they normally would. My concern was leaves from my lilac bushes are dropping their powdery mildew covered leaves, and blowing onto the large bed next to them. I am in the middle of feeding and recovering that bed, but just picking out the leaves for now. I will rake out all the leaves under the lilacs on the other side once all their leaves have fallen.
