YouTuber Cozzy Media, on the ground, says he was attacked in Piccadilly Gardens
A YouTuber caught in the middle of Halloween night violence in Piccadilly Gardens has said he was simply trying to document life in the notorious civic square and is an ‘innocent victim’.
Footage shows that the YouTuber, called Cozzy Media on his social media channels, filming a person with a drink in their hand who appeared to be upset.
His footage shows the person, who was holding a pint and was wearing ‘bunny ears’, appearing to be upset at an earlier unseen unseen incident. They can be heard to say: “I’m real life mad. I need to f**k him up.”
The person can be heard saying repeatedly ‘get that camera out of my face’ before throwing the drink on the YouTuber.
Other footage shows the YouTuber moving towards them before the person and their friend, also wearing bunny ears, aim blows at him, sending him crashing to the floor.
Greater Manchester Police have issued a statement on the incident and say they are investigating.

Tonight, the Manchester Evening News spoke to the YouTuber at the centre of the incident, and he said he was an ‘innocent victim’.
He said: “I have seen two women, or at least I thought they were women, and I thought they were in distress. I was going to try and get them away from the situation. I was filming. It’s what I do, but I was going to get them away from the situation and unfortunately I was violently attacked.
“Piccadilly Gardens is a very dangerous area. I’m very well liked around that area and I’m not antagonistic at all. Normally situations like that don’t happen to me. Obviously I’m a YouTuber and I want to highlight things. I’m a filmer and a documenter and I try to stay out of arguments.”

He said he was left dazed after being kicked to the head. “It escalated. I was punched and kicked,” he said.
He went on: “Piccadilly Gardens is a dangerous area. I’ve seen two females and tried to diffuse the situation. It escalated in a minute. I’ve tried to help them and I was attacked. I just hope everybody involved is ok.”
He said he was an ‘innocent victim’. He declined to reveal his real name.
Asked about a moment captured later in the incident, when he was caught punching the larger of the two in the head, Cozzy Media said: “I had concussion. I was confused. I had just been leathered.
“They threatened to stab me. I should have just walked away. I didn’t know what was going on. I didn’t even know about that until I saw it (online) after.”
Later footage then showed a large group of people attacking the two people involved.
A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police said officers were aware of the incident and were ‘reviewing the footage’ which shows two people involved in the confrontation with Cozzy Media.

The footage shows violence erupting in Piccadilly Gardens. People can be seen kicking and punching each other amid a crowd of onlookers, many of them recording on their phones.
Another piece of footage starts in the middle of the brawl, with what appears to show two people repeatedly striking the YouTuber.
Towards the end of the footage the friend of the person the YouTuber had argued with, who was topless, is seen with blood streaming from a facial wound. Someone can be seen striking them with a crutch.
A man wearing a Christmas hat is seen watching the violence unfold.
A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police said: “We are aware of video footage circulating, which is currently being reviewed.”
