I’ve been spending the last week fixing up my barren backyard into a dream oasis with my dad, and today I’m sharing the final results. But before I do, let’s rewind. The previous owner lived in this house for the last 70 years and never really did anything with the backyard. So, we were really starting from scratch. I chose actually not to do any grass back here and instead have a vegetable garden with a little gravel hangout area for entertaining. I told my dad my vision for this and he sketched all of it out for me on the back of his plane ticket coming out here and that’s what we used the entire time. So cute. I think the most fun part was getting to pick out all the different plants I wanted. My dad’s like a walking plant encyclopedia. So having him around was great just to make sure we pick things that hopefully won’t die. I don’t think I really saw the true vision until we mulched everything in, though. It really just brought everything together. And then for the final touches, I think I’m entering into my gardener era because I woke up at 6 a.m. this week to plant all of my veggies. And lastly, we brought in this patio furniture. And time for the final reveal. Here’s what we started with. And here’s my backyard now. I cannot believe this is the same place. Let me know what you think and stay tuned for more updates. We’re starting in the front yard

  1. You realise the foxgloves are poisonous, don't put them near any food you are growing.

  2. Plant nurseries don’t do a good job of labeling items as toxic to animals or humans.

Foxgloves are highly toxic and shouldn’t be planted near vegetables. It’s also poisonous for animals and humans to digest. It’s a good idea to transplant them to an area like your front yard.
