I want to put down a 0-0-7 Dimension .15% pre emergent. Should I wait until spring or get a head start now and another application in spring? Night temps are mid to low forties. Backyard has a lot more chickweed and still some crabgrass (according to app)
Zone 6b. CT Seeded 8/30 with Twin City Blue Resilience. Cut 3 times will be doing 4th mow later today. Scott winterizer fertilizer on 10/18 after a mow.
New home owner. Yard was all weeds apparently. Sprayed XLR8 in June when temps were still down. Killed pretty much everything. Dethatched yard and spread seed. Didn’t add top top soil or straw just seed, starter fertilizer, and water. Taking care of newborn as well so had other priorities. Still have some weeds that will die out shortly so not using any XLR8 til grass is more established if needed next year.
Also waiting until after winter to kill grass in pathway. Found a used spreader on marketplace and didn’t bother getting the deflector.

if you are going to use a pre-em right now I would go with a prodiamine product at mid rate. Anderson’s Barricade would be the best but you also have Lebanon Prodiamine .58 Biodac and Lesco 0-0-7 w/Stonewall.
This will give you the best bang for your buck. Keep in mind that it will not kill off any existing weeds like the chickweed. Next year to help deal with some of the chickweed pressure you can use 21-22-4 w/mesotrione (Scotts Step 1 for Seeding) at the time of seeding. This will give you at least a month of Pre-Em control while the grass seed comes up.
I’m down on the Island in 7B if you have questions by all means hit me up.
