The Evans School originally opened in 1904 as a public elementary school. It closed in the 1970s and sat empty for about 50 years before reopening earlier this year.
DENVER — A historic schoolhouse that has been transformed into a beer garden and cafe in Denver’s Golden Triangle district will debut new event spaces in December.
The Historic Evans School, at 1115 Acoma St., features the Schoolyard Beer Garden and the Schoolyard Café, which operates as a coffee, deli shop and wine bar.
In December, the building will open new event spaces that can host wedding receptions, corporate gatherings, award ceremonies and holiday parties, an announcement from the Evans School said.
The North Lawn, an outdoor venue tucked into a garden on the property, will be able to accommodate up to 150 guests for a seated ceremony and has standing room for 250 people, the announcement said. The space is framed by greenery and can host events like cocktail parties, wedding ceremonies and open-air gatherings, the announcement said.
The Auditorium, on the second level of the former school building, is a 4,000-square-foot ballroom in the former school auditorium. The sloped auditorium seating was removed, so the venue is able to accommodate up to 180 guests for a seated dinner, 200 people for a presentation or 400 attendees for a standing reception, the company said.
