Among the star attractions will be Blizzard, an eight-foot tall interactive inflatable penguin who will waddle into town from 4.30pm to 5.30pm.

Operated by a single puppeteer, Blizzard moves his flippers and beak while interacting with the crowds, bringing smiles wherever he goes.

There will also be two special story times with Santa in The Howard Centre, at 1pm then 3.30pm, and children can also meet the big man throughout the day for photos and chats full of festive cheer.

And as if that wasn’t enough, there will also be a fun fair with rides for all ages, and a stage hosting performances from groups including The Cotter Academy of Irish Dance, Waterside Primary School, Thalian Theatre and DH Dance Academy.
