The Ripon Inn, which has 58 bedrooms, is not a listed building but it is in Ripon Conservation Area.

The planning and heritage statement says the tipi would have “no adverse impacts on heritage assets, residential amenity or biodiversity” and would yield economic benefits to the business and city.

It adds:

“The tipi would be a freestanding structure, designed for flexible use as a sheltered space for outdoor dining. It would be installed on a timber deck constructed from traditional timber poles and a high-quality canvas canopy in neutral tones, designed to be visually recessive and sympathetic to the surrounding garden environment.”

The council will decide whether to approve the application.
