As these 2 closely grafted pups grow further will they hinder each other? Should I separate them now or just leave them to grow together on the stock?

Let it fly. The answer is almost always that the plant knows what it’s doing and not to interfere. If you want to degraft one I would wait til they’re both bigger. You’ll get faster growth for awhile leaving them both attached than by trying to degraft and root on their own

It is best not to cut small cacti because it inhibits growth until the new plants have formed roots.

I have sometimes taken a cutting to minimize risk, if one dies I have another one that survives.
    But cacti are very tough.

You have a really nice cactus and your weather makes me want to escape the gray, rainy, cold season where I live.

The way the spines have not pierced through their counterpart amazes me.

Get a pool noodle and wedge it down in there if you’re afraid they’ll poke themselves!
