Strawflowers need light to germinate. 💡

These amazing flowers open one layer at a time and are stunning in the garden! I have never found them at a nursery so starting them from seed is the only option to have them in my backyard garden.

Most seeds germinate in darkness, but strawflowers need light so just sprinkle them on top of your soil and press down to firm them in so they don’t blow or wash away.

I forget this every single year and have to resow them when I realize that they need light to germinate.

These beauties will all be in my cut flower garden this spring and summer and hopefully also make an appearance in my friend’s wedding this spring!

I think I’m most excited for the copper red or the vintage white. ❤️🤍

Happy seed starting friends. 🌻
