Does this xerographica look dehydrated or sunburnt to you guys? Trying to figure out what is wrong!
it has small crispy like brown spots but I thought I had it shielded from the sun enough. the back bottom part was the only part facing the sun which is what makes me think sunburn beaded on where the spots are. they are not spreading.
it was hanging in front of my Spanish moss but spanish moss is fine
also I have been dunking this over soaking lately and I feel like it looked way better when I was soaking once a week for 25 mins. I’m in northwest wisconsin so it’s 405% humidity in. my house currently and I’m turning on a humidifier soon but it only brings it up to about 55% at most I think last year. it feels tougher than it did when I was soaking it…like harder leaves and then the brown spots and browning leaf tips which I never had to trim off before when soaking.
told by, and read many different sources not to soak this one so that’s why I stopped but I feel like maybe I shouldn’t have taken that advice?
if it looks dehydrated to you, how long do you think I should soak it and what should I do about the brown spot? anyone else ever have this issue?
If you look at last 2 pics the front and back view, the front side was facing away from the northeast window and towards a southwest window that had a sliver (1 foot) uncurtained but very far from it like maybe 15 feet? And about 2 feet front the northwest window (rear faced that)
But i had it there all this time and only recently this happened like the last month.
Idk could be water too because i mist my Spanish moss every other day but usually hold it out of the way and maybe a few drops get on it but I have an oscillating fan on the moss after misting and it dries very quickly both any spots on xero and the moss. Plus its crispy…. and not mushy at all like rot.

It looks great. The brown spots could be mechanical damage maybe?
That’s one great looking Xero! I don’t see anything that I’d find concerning if it were mine. Those curled leaves would probably loosen with a good soak but definitely not super dehydrated in my opinion. For what it’s worth, my indoor humidity is similar (Oregon) and I soak mine for at least 24 hours at a time, if not longer. Mine is absolutely massive and soaking is the only realistic way for me to keep her properly hydrated. Drying upside down and with a fan is an absolute must in my experience. Did you recently move yours to a new spot or has it been in the same light this whole time? There’s no sunburn I can see at all. I’d recommend slowly introducing to brighter light to avoid burning, but once acclimated, Xeros can handle *a lot* of light. Mine is in a south window all year round!
It looks really healthy, not sure what you’re concerned about tbh
Looks fine.
