I had a few lovely plants in pots stolen from the front of my house, which was so upsetting. So I had this bed put in, and without much clue of plants it turned out really well! The honeysuckle is even carrying berries this autumn. Don't ask me what the other plants are called 😊
On the other side of the steps (2nd pic) I want to put a planter on the wall (screwed into the wall as the pots there got stolen as well – right in front of my video camera!). Any ideas? It's North facing, very little direct sun in winter and quite exposed to wind. The wall is about 1m long.

Maybe look into alpines? They seem hardy enough but not sure if they’d give year round interest aside from folliage. Alternatively maybe some woody herbs or winter) spring bulbs.
Edit: Maybe Euonymus or Berberis?
Love the window behind the wall 😂
I am so sorry to hear this. It si such a shame that it has come to this , peoples morals are just gone with the wind. I have seen may videos where people just come in a car/ van ,get out the car , grab the whole pot and throw it in their car and get away. Its is so disheartening. I have had mine stolen a couple of times despite it being a very public and busy area.
I am glad that you have moved onto a bed. It is looking nice.
Plant something that will not be too inviting to steal I suppose. What I have done is still have plant pots out on the front yard but I have made sure that I have spares of those in my back garden. My trouble is what plants I have are seldom found in your everyday garden centres. Perhaps that is what invites people to steal. To top it all I frequently give away plants to anyone who enjoys them. Even passers by knock for spares so I am puzzled why someone would need to steal.
We have to have bad apple in the basket somewhere dont we!
My neighbour is a klepto-hoarder with a rotating collection of nefariously gained pot plants/pots amongst all the other scrap metal, furniture, general detritus. He doesn’t do much with any of it. It accumulates until he gets a skip and clears out.
I’m just saying some people are nicking stuff for no good reason other than some delusional get rich quick schemes which never pan out. I’m not sure if that makes it better or worse. Just don’t waste time trying to make sense of it.
Berberis – nice and thorny and comes in lots of beautiful leaf colours. It’s deciduous though. Else euonmyus, hebe emerald globe, dwarf conifers.
You could try Chaenomeles speciosa (Japanese Quince), bare and spiky in winter, with beautiful spring flowers in spring followed by leaves and late summer/autumn fruits, good for cooking.
Sarcococca confusa (Christmas Box) beautiful evergreen glossy leaves, highly scented winter flowers.
Jasminum nudiflorum (Winter Jasmine) bright yellow flowers in February/March.
Ferns would also do well. You could add a few cyclamen corms, bulbs or violas, primroses, bellis for extra colour.
