Welcome back to Surprise My Wife with a dream oasis in our backyard. Today, the first thing we’re going to do is make this less bland. That looks better, but I think it could still use more plants. And maybe a couple more around the deck, which is also where my hot tub is. Back to planting. Now, after planting the plants and staining the deck, I realized that these blocks would look a whole lot better black. And I just realized if I don’t install a drip system, all these plants are going to die. And life hack, if you’re ever working with hose like this, if you roll it out, you will roll out the twists and kinks. You guys think I should put a drip line into the poison oak? I still need to figure out a way to kill this. All right, now it’s time to turn it on and see how many leaks I have. I mean, see if it works. There we go. There we go. There we go. We did it. We got the plants planted, the drip line in. And I do hear what you’re saying. This would look a whole lot better with some bark. We still got to do this side. And up next is lights. And the votes were scrambled whether I should put them up high or down low. So, I’m gonna put them down low because when we’re watching the movie on the projector screen, I think the lights up high will be a little bit distracting, a little too bright to see the screen. Well, my real OG followers will know why I built this deck in the very first place like 3 years ago. Let me know in the comments if you remember. We planted 25 plants, ran 200 foot of drip line, unloaded 45 bags of bark all in a day’s work. But I got to say, I’m sorry because I promised you that this will be finished today. But there’s no way that’s going to happen cuz I’m going to have dinner with my family and that can’t wait. But this can wait till tomorrow. So tune in tomorrow where I’m going to do all new patio furniture. I’m going to build a portable projector screen and then finish the day with a date night for my wife. I do have one more question before you go. I want to plant a tree right there and I’d love to know what kind of tree I should plant. So, let me know in the comments and the one that gets the most votes, I’ll plant it. And as per usual, thank you so much for watching. And I’m going to show you guys a little before and after so at least you get the satisfaction of seeing what we did today.

  1. Were the plants you planted native? It would’ve awesome if they were! 😀 this is not criticize or anything just curious!

  2. Regardless of the tree you actually chiose, I would strongly recommend putting an evergreen tree in that will give you shade all year around.. Don't plant a deciduous tree that will drop their leaves every year, giving you another job to do every year, of cleaning up the fallen leaf litter. Your surprise is stating to look incredible. The weeping cherry will give you two clean up jobs, one when the flowers drop and again when the leaves drop.

  3. Something that's an insect repellant and giving lots of shade but not with too much floral debris. And no fruit trees there I think.

  4. Welcome back to
