WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE CO. (WOLF) — As autumn leaves fell, generosity grew in Wilkes-Barre—where the Wilkes-Barre Area Community Gardens held its Community Support Event on October 28.

The event offered free clothing, snacks, crafts, and more.

Visitors who stopped by enjoyed a bit of fall fun while also finding warm clothes to help prepare for the colder weather ahead.

Being part of a nonprofit that serves the community, Jessica Letteer, a member of the Wilkes-Barre Area Community Gardens, expanded on the event.

“We grow generative agriculture during the year. And at the end of the season. Now, I thought it would be good to do a community support event. Just to give people opportunities to get some fall and winter clothing and then, you know, some snacks for the kids. And then I have staples like potatoes and apples that we’re giving away, too, just because things are a little tougher going into fall,” said Jessica Letteer.

For Letteer, lending a hand isn’t about perfection, but about when people come together when times get tough.

“And I know some people are getting real strapped, so just wanted to help out any way we could. And we do this together, probably with like a month notice, and so far, it’s been pretty good,” said Letteer.
