    While the picture is AI, I’m pretty sure I’ve seen stuff like that with redwoods in nature. They are so apically driven that I’ve even seen trees sprout up tall and straight from branches on one that was knocked over. Like natural Daisugi or coppicing off of a fallen trunk.

    As an old fart, any tips on recognizing AI? I can usually pick up on it when people are in the photo but I have trouble with nature. TIA

    I’ve seen real pictures from logging areas on Vancouver island of old growth cedars with dead tops, and on part of the dead top, was a 3-5 foot tall mountain hemlock growing perfectly fine haha.
