A Claremont estate featuring a meticulously-crafted Asian-inspired garden is on the market for just under $3.5 million.

Originally built in 1989 and renovated, the property features a 5,800-square-foot main house and a 785-square-foot guest house for a total of seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms. Records show the current owner bought it in April 2024, paying $3.4 million —3% less than the asking price.

Spanning more than three-quarters of an acre, the grounds reflect feng shui principles. Feng shui is the ancient Chinese practice of arranging spaces to optimize energy flow and promote well-being.

“The previous owner invested over $1 million working with a feng shui master to create a thoughtfully balanced landscape,” said Jacqueline Gunn of Douglas Elliman, the co-listing agent.

This garden space, which took years to create, includes a bridge over the koi pond, scattered boulders, trees and shrubs pruned to resemble cloud shapes and designated areas designed for “peace, beauty and balance,” the listing reads.

Beyond the showcase garden, the interior of the main house reveals decorative ceilings and ornate details from the moment of entry.

A grand foyer leads to the dining room on one side and the living room on the other. Straight ahead is the wet bar, family room and sitting room.

The gourmet kitchen comes equipped with a large center island with seating, a breakfast nook and a wine fridge complemented by ample wine storage.

Also on the main level are dedicated office and laundry spaces, while the spacious primary suite on the second floor offers a fireplace, a spa-like bathroom with a glass-enclosed shower and a separate soaking tub, and a walk-in closet..

Outdoor resort-style amenities include an LED-lit tennis court and a solar-powered saltwater pool, complete with a spa, waterfall and waterslide.

At the far-end of the yard, the guest house provides additional accommodation.

It has one bedroom, two bathrooms, a full kitchen, a living area and a private patio overlooking the gardens and tennis court.

The garage features air conditioning.

Other highlights include a Control4 system that automates operations by integrating various devices into one platform, 4K surveillance for clear and detailed security monitoring and a whole-house solar system.

Gunn shares the listing with George Kahwaji of LA Estate Brokerage.
