The variety is literally called Jerusalem artichoke ‘Dwarf’ and is available (at times!) from Incredible Vegetables in the UK. It’s less vigorous and invasive than your standard types and just as tasty.

If you’ve ever grown Jerusalem artichoke sun chokes before, you know that they can become invasive. If you don’t remove every single tuber, it will just respout the next year. But I think that I found a solution, two solutions actually. The first is growing ordinaryized Jerusalem artichokes in large containers or small raised beds. It really constrains them. The second is growing this variety. This is a dwarf Jerusalem artichoke. The canes only grow about waist height, which is great for my garden, which is quite windy. They don’t get knocked down. And they’re a much more petite tuber, bright red, gorgeous, and easy to grow in containers. So, you never have to worry about them taking over your garden.
