First time doing this, I added a bunch of random greens like grass stinging nettle and for browns I used some fall leaves and some rotten apples. I watered a lot and put some dirt in. All 3 days I have turned once, only mild temp increase

Has to be way larger, at least the size of that box if not bigger to trap significant heat. You’ll be fine without it steaming in the morning, that much heat means something is happening in there.

Looks good bud! You may want to Mix in a shovel full of moist dirt to really get that thing going.
