2 weeks ago I ordered a pink alocasia bambino during a live. I was excited as it's really difficult to actually get sought after plants from TGE as they sell out in a millisecond but I was lucky! A couple days later I got a message that the plants "no longer met their standards for shipping, and they canceled my order. I asked to please wait until they got suitable plants instead because it was a stroke of luck that I was able to get one, they said they weren't going to have more anythime soon and proceed to cancel the order. Then they started doing auction format for some plants that same day that they contacted me (this is new for them), and I had a suspicion something was going on. Lo and behold, they have been auctioning off pink bambino tonight, 10 days after telling me the ones that had weren't good enough to ship out and they weren't getting more. How scummy.

Purchased from them once and won’t be doing it again. Customer service is garbage, packaging is horrendous and the plants didn’t survive past a week of having them. You’re better off paying higher prices to get something worth your time and money.
I jumped on that live last night specifically to check out the price. Didn’t remember if GE was noted on here as one of the sellers to avoid or had a good reputation so I closed it out!
I got a message that two pothos I ordered from them off Etsy weren’t “up to quality standards” literally today

Damn, didn’t realize they were disliked here. I’ve bought from their regular etsy store several times with no issue.
I refuse to buy from any seller on Etsy now. I’ve been ripped off by several of their sellers in the past year
Is there a different website that people would recommend purchasing from????
I’ve had similar issues several times buying from them on Etsy. Seems like whenever they have something actually rare/hard to find for a good price it’s about 50/50 whether I’ll get the “plants no longer meet our standards” message, especially if I ordered during a sale. Then they try to get me to pick another plant that’s the same price to avoid giving a refund. On at least one occasion they told me they had no idea when they might restock a plant so I said I wanted a refund. The very next day(when they processed the refund) the plant was back in stock on their store.
I’ve had mixed results with their 4” pot plants. I’ve gotten some very big and highly variegated plants for cheap, and I’ve gotten some pretty lackluster ones as well. Had pretty bad luck with their starters and 2” pot plants. Mostly very small and most just never did well. Several times they sent me what was obviously the wrong variety for both 4” pot and starter plants.
I ordered two hoyas from them last month.
Neither was anywhere close to the listing picture and description.
One was certainly half dead prior to shipping. Leaves were rotting off the vine.
The other was two props in a pot when the listing was for an established mature plant with multiple vines.
It was annoying that I only had 24 hours to file a complaint per their shop policy when it took ages to process and then ship. And they don’t answer messages on weekends (but expect me to submit a complaint on a Sat/Sun and await their response).
Honestly, I don’t understand how they have good reviews. The experience was awful. I’ve blocked the shop on Etsy because I don’t want to see their listings!!
Yah, I’ll never buy from them again. My plants were in the mail forever and one died almost immediately. The other is still alive but barely.
I’m glad I saw this post. I added a couple of plants from their Etsy store to my cart today, but hadn’t checked out. They weren’t rare plants or anything, but after reading all the comments here I don’t think I’ll order from them.
This is the one seller I wish PalmStreet would seriously revoke some privileges/allowances on, but I know they’re probably making them too much money off them.
I’ve ordered from them before when I first started out in the houseplants game. Though my orders arrived ‘fine’, I didn’t realize they were basically tissue cultures. Considering I live in Florida there are definitely some things I could’ve bought at ten times the size for the same price and not had to rehab.

Wow. This is a total shock to me. Every plant i have ever received was perfect. I even needed them early because it was a gift for my daughter and they did it. I did get a message from them once because they ran out of something, so they let me get a more expensive one (not by much). This is quite upsetting to hear because i always thought they could be my go-to for starter plants.
I had literally the same experience with the pink bambino! I ordered this plant and another plant. They canceled saying the pink bambino’s weren’t up to their standards…which is fine! Don’t send me a dying plant. But then, later that same day I saw they were live selling the plant. When I asked about this they answered by not answering and basically told me to have a nice day and be on my way.
I actually liked them until they sent me a spider plant with scale 😧

The green escape and Gabriella plants.. I’ve had bad experiences with both unfortunately ~ had 2 plants replaced and the 1st ones were actually better and I just said fk it and propped the 2nd ones and nursed the 1st 🤦🏼♀️
So.. I’m Curious if anyone has tried or ordered from eureka Farms? They have some seriously nice “pictures” of some seriously mature plants for good prices and I was curious if anyone has had any experience ordering from them..
They used to be my favorite online shop but three of the last 4 plants I’ve purchased from them have died, and came with pests (one with mealy bugs, two with spider mites). I won’t purchase from them again.
I’m so surprised to read these comments. I haven’t had a bad experience with them. I did get some crispy plants from them over the summer, but it was also a million degrees outside. They were quick to refund my money.
As I was reading your screenshots, I was thinking, “*what* is the problem? Wouldn’t you rather get a refund than get a bad product?” And then I got to your post and see that they’re auctioning them… that really is shitty. Feels like they realized they could get more and screwed you over to do it.
Good to know my intuition was correct about them. Thanks for letting us know about them and their shady practices. So sorry that they treated you like that, though. May you find your pretty baby somewhere else and it be everything you hope for!

Similar situation. Bought a pink bambino from them on Palmstreet. Got a notification it was refunded, no explanation or anything. Immediately sent the rest of my order out without asking about replacements or anything like what you got. Today I noticed the live auction so I see where my order went
I sell plants and shop for them on etsy. My recommendations are to find shops that aren’t large companies like TGE, and are smaller individuals. Sort by country since pretty much any listing outside of the country you are in is a scam. A lot of the smaller sellers are genuine people like me trying to share our passion with the world, but like all things the bigger the company the less they care about you.
People need to stop buying from them. Just research who you’re supporting before doing it. TGE is one of the largest plant scam “shops” on the internet at the moment.
Plantvers is my go to! Got most of my plants from them and they’re thriving.
I only order from two places off Etsy which is
PlantVers – amazing plants great quality.
And
BradysPlantExchange – also very good quality just not as many options.
My recent experience with them pissed me off so bad. I had two separate orders that I got two days apart. I dm’d them asking if I could cancel an item on my order and if they can just ship the rest together. They said they can’t cancel orders, which I respond that I have an Etsy shop and you literally can… but they said they’ll cancel the whole thing and I’ll just have to reorder. I was worried bc I got a variegated Polly and didn’t want to lose it, but I eventually caved and said sure refund me. They stopped responding and sent everything to me in one package. Like ok bitches. Also they took 1 day to respond to EACH message 🙃 shady ass company.
Same thing happened to me a couple months ago. Soured me on them for sure.
Im so sorry this happened to you 🙁 thank you for this post though, I’ve never heard of The Green Escape before seeing this but now I’ll make sure to never buy from them! I hate scams in the plant community, it’s always such a shame.
