Jess you have the best laugh. It's great to hear you laugh. It brings a smile to the face of anyone who hears it. Your smile lights up the room like the northern star you are. Thanks for sharing your field trip with us đ©·
Oh my goodness!! Forbidden fiber co is one of my absolutely favorite dyers sheâs amazing!! Paper cranes yarn is gorgeous and lovely to work with. I recently made a pair of socks out of her yarn and they are so pretty. Absolutely gorgeous haul!! Thank you so much for sharing!!
Well bummer! I live in Asheville and go to this fair most years to get alpaca socks but didn't realize it was this past weekend. It's a great event!
It was a delight to not only walk with you (via video) through the festival booths, but also to see a few of the live animals the fiber for the yarns comes from. I have a love of all kinds of fiber crafts and hope "one day" to attend one of these festivals when schedule and finances allow.
Please show us your crochet projects!
You can start small with spinning if you use a drop spindle. Very easy introduction to spinning. Miah could make you a distaff from wood or branches that fall naturally on your refuge. You could of even start by gathering the undercoat from your herd dogs
The scratchy wool can be a egg aprin.
Such beautiful boys. Yay for mom!
Beautiful yarns. I would get into so much trouble in there! Love seeing you with your boys!
Did I miss it again? Dang it!!!!
Gorgeous yarns!đ
I have been wearing my real food comes dirty hoodie this week! đ It's finally cool enough in Alabama for sleeves!
Noooo!!! I missed the event and you!! I hope y'all had a blast and enjoyed our state.
We just had the NY Sheep and Wool Festival last weekend. My bestie and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!
My sister raises Angoras and twice a year I have to go help shear them. She has several people who buy her fibers to spin.
CANDY STORE!!
Beautiful stash collection from the festival.
What a wonderful festival and full of inspiration! I especially loved the close up of the different varieties of animals. Thanks for taking us along!
That was an awesome, fiber geek out session….lol
I LOVED it! Thank you for taking us along Jess.
And I could and would go broke at an event like that.
Loved it! Thank you Jess. God bless you Sister. â€
So enjoyed this!! Not able to do anymore but I sure appreciate the lovely color ways of yarn and the animals. Thank you.
Oh yes Miss Babs is the bomb.
Oh my! My dream field trip! Scratchy wool garments can be lined with linen or cotton fabrics… I'm hoping to make a winter church skirt out of mine like my grandmother's (she was born in 1893). She is still my biggest inspiration! Thank you for bringing us along!đđż
As someone who crochets, knits, and spins, I can say with enthusiasm that learning to spin will add to a fiber arts obsession even more in a good way. What blew my mind when I first learned to spin eons ago, was that as a spinner, I could decide how to twist the yarn specifically for crochet. That fact alone opens up so many possibilities and eliminates a lot of frustrations when crocheting with a lot of commercial yarns. Yarns we think of as splitty is mostly because they are spun with right-handed knitters in mind. But as a spinner, you can spin the twist in the opposite directions so the final yarn ends in a Z-twist which is great for crochet. I love being able to do that. Spinning opens up a whole world of crocheting opportunities. đ§¶đ§¶đ§¶đ§¶đ§¶đ§¶

I miss your videos but I know youâre busy and dealing with lifeâŠthat makes you real! â€â€â€
I love your kids for going with you to your "candy store "đ
May sound odd, but I've been keeping my pets hair when brushing to make "needle felt" mini versions of them for Christmas ornaments.
Oh my! If I had a million dollars or just a little more I head straight to the fiber store. How do you ever decide on a color? Love it
So jealous! I live in east TN ~90 minutes from SAFF. I've missed several years of it because it was cancelled to due COVID, one year there was a Legionnaires disease outbreak and last year's hurricane. This year, I had car problems. Hopefully, next year…
Start carding and spinning this winter!!
"Shorn, plucked or combed". Plucked?! Ouch!đź
Thanks for sharing that was an interesting trip. You pick out some beautiful yarn I was curious to know if you finished the boys afghans last Christmas. Big hugs
Nice event and beautiful yarnsâ„ïž
Oh my! I had no idea you were filming – Iâm so happy to know I wasnât quite as bumbling as I felt, lol. It was such an amazing treat to meet you. I canât wait to see what you make with your yarn!
What a fun show! It's cool to see Ben getting into photography. I wonder where he got that from?đ We used to raise Angora goats, Shetland Sheep, and had a few Icelandic sheep too. The Shetlands and Angoras were very friendly, Icelandic were bigger and not so docile. We did show some Shetlands at fairs and won some ribbons. Mostly it was an opportunity to find new genetics and make friends. The fiber is incredibly soft. My wife did spinning and crochet. we never got into dying since the multi color of the Shetlands was enough for the style she waned. She went to son spinning classes close by and learned hat way.
Ohhhh this is right up my alley! How did I live there and have no clue that was there?! đ
Enjoyed the video , maybe have the boys raise the sheep or rabbits to sell and harvest fiber, and you all can have a side hustle … the boys can do it for school or fair …

So many pretty colors
I knit, spin, crochet, and would love to do weaving one day. So a fiber festival vlog sounds wonderful!
The Good Wife of Bath is a historical drama around spinning and weaving and how a woman couldn't work with the guilds of the time. Set in Bath (England). Adult themes, but I really enjoyed the read
