My sworn enemies

Alocasia and I are not friends.

I’m a chronic underwaterer. My monsteras, my philos, my Hoyas, hell even my begonias all tolerate this (haven’t lost a plant to root rot in years). These fuckers? They can’t stand me.

But… I got all these variegated babies for under $100 for all 6 of them. Two pink bambinos, two pink black velvets, one dragon scale mint, and one venom (Not all pictured). They came in plugs and I stuck them right in fluval/perlite mix after removing the plugs and a short period in a humidity dome. They currently reside in my mini IKEA greenhouse under 75% humidity.

I adore them and I hate them. I dread the day I have to move them to another substrate. I already got all the goods to transfer them to semihydro when the time comes. Bad idea? Perhaps. Say a prayer for them, because they ended up with the worst mother. 😂
